Lily Weissberg,  University of Florida

“I’m going to be attending the University of Florida in Gainsville with a major in nutritional sciences on the pre-med track. I chose this school for many reasons, including the flourishing Jewish life. Israel is widely supported, and the encampments were immediately shut down. The school has an amazing specialized program that is perfect for me and appeals to my interests. Additionally, UF has all the “ra ra spirit,” as we would say here at Schechter, with a huge football following and well-known tailgating and fun. Finally, it is the perfect balance of allowing me to live life away, being able to travel abroad, and also not being in an inaccessible place for my parents. I am looking forward to getting to learn in classes that I am really interested in, and I am excited to meet new people and learn to live on my own. I hope to be part of different clubs and sports teams to enrich my experience and allow me to diversify my friend group.”

Yoni Conn, Macalester College

“I am going to Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. As of now, I am going to be a political science major, but at Macalester, I don't declare my major until the end of my second year, so it might change. I chose Macalester because it was very out of the box. It is a small liberal arts college in an urban area with small classes. They also have a civil environment for Jewish students, and when I toured the school, they welcomed me and made me feel at home from the start. I am looking forward to being able to take interesting classes and explore the Twin Cities. I also can't wait to study abroad in the future.”

Galit Chesler, Goucher College
“I'm majoring in professional and creative writing at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. I chose Goucher because it's a small school in a big place, so I will get to meet people without being overwhelmed. It also has a really good study abroad program, which I'm hoping to take full advantage of during college. I'm hoping to branch out a bit more by making more friends as well as seeing more of the world both in and after college.”

Taliah Gibson, Queens College

"I will be attending Queens College this fall with a major in biology. I wanted a local college to start off my first year, and I plan on transferring to the University of Arizona for my second year and continuing college there. I am looking forward to meeting new people outside of Schechter and making friends with interesting people of all different backgrounds. I hope that college allows me to learn about myself and what I want to do later in life. After college, I plan to attend a veterinary school and continue my education in that field."
