Throughout the fall, many universities send representatives to Schechter's high school to speak to the students about their schools. These representatives work with the admissions at their respective schools to schedule a day to visit and allow high school students to learn more about the school and ask questions. This September, Muhlenberg College, the University of Maryland, the University of Michigan, and Brandeis University will be visiting Schechter.

Art Mandel, Head of College Counseling for the high school, shared that “the goals of the meetings are to bring the college reps to us, so they get to know Schechter and Schechter students.” He explained that another purpose is “to allow students access to the college reps to ask individual questions ... rather than just going to an [online] information session.”
Yesterday, Jordan Bitton, a junior, attended the meeting with Savannah Bowman, assistant director of admissions at Muhlenberg College. Bowman handed out information guides that included the majors and minors that the school offers. Bitton explained that he “wanted to learn more about [Muhlenberg] and what college meetings actually are." Additionally, Bitton felt like he learned “the right questions to ask," and he stated that “the person who came was very helpful and informative.”
Today, a representative from the University of Maryland met with students who were curious about the school and wanted to hear what they have to offer. He explained information about the school ranging from the location and classes to scholarships and Jewish life. The representative answered students' questions about specific majors such as business and neuroscience. He discussed different colleges at the university and the application process that this year's seniors are navigating.
Elinor Schlissel, a senior who attended the meeting, shared that she was impressed by the amount of resources offered for “Jewish students like the organizations they have and their good kosher dining options.” Schlissel was able to ask a question and felt that it was very helpful to “hear more information about one of the schools that [she’s] applying to.”
The college information sessions run through the next few months, and Mandel believes that it is “very valuable for all students, both juniors and seniors, to attend these meetings.”
