Captain and senior Talia Herbst felt that “this game went better than last week.” Although they did not win, sophomore Madison Hoffman reported that she and her doubles partner, eighth-grader Anna Siegel, “had some really good hits and rallies.” Coach Josh Jurysta agreed, describing that “there were some good rallies going back-and-forth, and our team put up a good fight.”

During practices, Herbst has been “working on a stronger serve” and controlling her power so the ball stays in-bounds. Hoffman has also been working on controlling her strength.

The team has improved since the beginning of the season. Hoffman shared that she has gotten better at communicating with her teammates, along with perfecting her backhand. Herbst explained that each player has found something they want to get better at, and that she has “seen improvement on everything that we’ve been working on at practice.” Jurysta added that he has seen the team “get better at serving” as well as the other skills. He thinks that the team’s “knowledge of the rules and how scoring works has also gotten better.”

With a few matches still left in the season, Hoffman hopes to have consistent serves and get even better at communicating with the people she is playing with. Herbst noted that the team will continue to “work on the same individual skills that [they] need to work on.” Jurysta shared that the team will keep “finding better ways to take advantage of opportunities to score points.”

Herbst is proud of all of her teammates and knows that the next few matches will reflect all of their hard work.

Hoffman concluded, “This has been a great season.”
