This year, Coach Dylan Stephenson joined the athletic department as the new middle school physical education teacher.
The first few weeks of school have been great for both students and teachers. Stephenson said that as a first year teacher, “I’ve really enjoyed getting to know my students and faculty members. Everybody has been so nice and welcoming, and I look forward to continuing having great classes as the year progresses.”
For the past five years, he has been coaching a variety of Schechter sports. This year, Coach Dylan is co-coaching Girls Varsity Tennis, both Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball, and Girls Varsity Softball. His favorite part about his new job at Schechter is the community. Stephenson shared, “It truly feels like a family dynamic between everybody, and I couldn’t be more excited to be included.”

Stephenson chose to come to Schechter because of the experiences he had here in the past as a coach. “The students [and] athletes are amazing, and the support received from everybody was truly incredible. Those experiences made it easy for me to come to Schechter as a new teacher and start my new journey.”
Stephenson shared, “This new role at Schechter of being a physical education teacher has its similarities and differences of my past role as a coach. It’s the similarities that motivate me the most. Lifting students up, having them learn, and installing the confidence in them to be successful is something I will strive to complete in my new role of the Schechter community.”
Stephenson concluded, “I am looking forward to getting the most out of my students while learning from my colleagues and trying to create the best learning environment there is.”
