This morning, the Senior Class of 2025 gathered bright and early at Jones Beach to watch the sunrise. One of the many traditions of senior year is to begin by watching the sunrise and, when the school year comes to an end, to watch the sunset as a finale for 13 great years together.
The seniors truly enjoyed their time together. (S. Gordon)
As seniors are approaching all of their lasts, many emotions are in the air. Although it was very early, Senior Carly Smith was happy to participate in this event. She said, “It was a really nice thing for us to see the sunrise, sit together, and come together as a grade.”
Senior and spirit chair Addison Pravato coordinated this morning for the grade. She picked a Monday that worked for all the students. Then, she contacted Jones Beach representatives to confirm students’ arrival. Pravato expressed that “the senior sunrise went well,” and she felt “happy and nostalgic.”
Not all the senior classes at Schechter go see the sunrise together and come together as a grade. Smith continued, “It was really special and unique to our grade.” Senior Liam Golan agreed and stated that “bonding and spending time with my grade is one of my favorite things to do.”
After the sun had risen, seniors then went to Bagel Boss to enjoy a nice breakfast together before starting the day at school.
This gathering was just the start of all the events in store for seniors. Coming up, they have the Hebrew play, the Israel trip, prom, graduation, and lastly, the senior sunset.
Smith concluded, “We have the best grade ever, and the Class of 2025 is going to be one for the books!”
