Today, the high school’s Executive Student Government began their regular meetings after planning and organizing the fun events of retreat last week. The members of the Executive Student Government were elected at the end of last year by the students and are now working together to create engaging and exciting events and activities for the high school.

The Executive Student Government consists of five hard-working members led by President Elinor Schlissel and Vice President Samson Mildron. Schlissel and Mildron are joined by Addison Pravato, the Spirit Chair, Carly Smith, the Secretary, and Micah Bidner, the Treasurer. They are advised by math teacher and Varsity Cross Country coach Mr. Connelly. Student Government regularly meets once a cycle of the schedule⸺about once a week.
The members of the Executive Student Government may know each other, but since they are in different grades, they have not necessarily worked together before. Schlissel explained, “I am very excited to work with the group of people in the Executive Government. I think it’s a great group, and we will work very well together.” Mr. Connelly added, “I'm excited for the dynamic. We have a couple seniors and a couple juniors, and I think the Student Government really showed how well and cooperative they can work with one another when we were at retreat, so I'm really excited to have…a really strong cooperative, easy-to-get-along-with group of students.”
There are a ton of exciting and interesting events planned by the Student Government that many high school students are looking forward to. Mr. Connelly stated, “We were planning our fall event for the grand reopening of ‘The Wing’ [the school store] today. If any students have recommendations for snacks, send them to your grade reps, and they can then send them to the Student Government. We would like to just have some more consistent events. Last fall, we did donuts, coffee, and hot apple cider, so we look forward to serving the student body lots of different treats.”
When the Student Government meets, they have an array of topics to discuss, ranging from upcoming events and fundraisers to seasonal activities. Mildron emphasized that Student Government is currently “working on different fundraisers and fun, new, different events throughout the school year, as well as Student Government classics like the winter formal and things like that.”
Bidner concluded, “We hope to continue to make sure that the student body is genuinely happy… and we hope to achieve this goal by planning events and supporting students!”
