Paw Print Releases First Edition of School Year

by Talia Herbst, SSLI ‘25

Yesterday, the first Paw Print Magazine edition was released to the student body. Every year, Paw Print releases three editions. An edition is released in the fall, winter, and spring. The magazine addresses controversies going on in school and the outside world, as well as opinion pieces and articles about getting to know our teachers better.

Senior, Paw Print Now editor, and Paw Print Editor-in-Chief Yael Pedram felt the magazine “turned out really well.” She thought the cover was “very engaging” and thought the “writers did a great job at bringing the magazine to life.”

“The writers of Paw Print Magazine showcase all that we do in Schechter's writing program,” said Assistant Principal, Paw Print Now advisor, and Paw Print advisor Mr. Thorgersen.

The teacher's pets article was a fan favorite. Freshman Nola Berg shared, “The teacher’s pets article was my favorite because it made me feel more connected to my teachers on a more friendly level.” Berg even shared that, after reading this magazine, she might even consider joining Paw Print next year.

Pedram explained that when building the magazine, there is lots of back and forth criticism between the writers and editors in order to publish a magazine that readers want to read. Since publishing the magazine, Paw Print writers and editors have received lots of “great feedback,” said Pedram.

Thorgersen shared, “Our reporters and essayists are thoughtful and thorough, stylistic and savvy. I'm so proud to work with them.” Thorgersen added that both Schechter's Paw Print Magazine and Paw Print Now were just entered into a national contest, and he “can't wait to hear the judges' feedback.”

Pedram concluded, “I'm really proud of the staff for bringing this magazine together, and I hope the Schechter community enjoys reading it.”
