Student Government Announces Winter Formal Theme and Date

 by Rebecca Bazini, SSLI '27

Last Friday, the theme and date for this year’s Winter Formal were announced on Student Government's Instagram (@ssli.studentgov). The formal will be on January 11 and the theme will be “Fairytale”; the theme will play into what people wear, the decorations, and the overall atmosphere of the event.

Student Government posted a flyer for the upcoming event on Instagram. (Student Government Instagram)

Layna Botwinick, a junior, shared, “I’m really excited for the theme. I think it’s really cutesy and gives people an opportunity to dress up like fairies and as if they were in a storybook.”

Last year’s theme was “Winter Wonderland” and students had a wonderful time. Botwinik also stated, “It was really nice to hang out with friends outside of school hours.” Last year’s formal was well-planned and organized. Spirit Chair and senior Addison Pravato shared, “I think we planned it very well last year. Planning winter formal is stressful, but we always get it done.”

Student Government has already started planning to make this year's formal the best one yet: “We have lots of great ideas,” said Treasurer Micah Bidner, a junior. He continued, “We are working on different categories, including food and decor.” Some memorable ideas from last year’s Winter Formal were the delicious treats and snacks photobooth. Botwinik remarked, “I love making memories with my friends.”

Student Government is so excited for what is to come. Bidner shared, “If anyone else has good ideas too, we would be happy to revive suggestions!”
