This was a strong week for Schechter sports. Our community got to celebrate multiple victories between Girls Varsity Volleyball and Girls Varsity Basketball.

Despite the win, Senior Talia Herbst explained that “the team can definitely work on communicating better with each other. Since some of us are new to the team and are still getting used to being on the team, right now it just feels like a game of broken telephone.”
Still, Pedram emphasized that the team improved a lot: “Firstly, we were much more fluid on the court. Secondly, our basketball IQ was definitely better, as we were able to get better reads on the ball and figure out what the smartest move is. This game definitely took a lot of strategy. We had to use time to our advantage to try and stay up, and, ultimately, we did it.”
Pedram added, “I'm so proud of the team and can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store.”

Girls Varsity Volleyball played against North Shore Hebrew Academy (NSHA) on Monday and came out victorious. The team won 3-0: a clean sweep.

Senior and Co-Captain of Girls Volleyball Sasha Chernoff stated, “I think a great part of this game was that we were able to get many people on the court to play. Everyone played very well and read the ball well, too. We had great hits, passes, and serves and played very well altogether.”
Sophomore and starting player Madison Hoffman said, “I think that we played a good game. All of the girls on the team were very supportive and excited for each other when we had victories on the court.” Hoffman added that even “when we missed a ball, everyone was so supportive and gave tips on how to get to the ball.”
Chernoff believes that the team “can improve on our serve receive. There were some serves that went in between players, and we were not sure whose ball it was, but we worked on improving that during practice today. We also worked on improving our passing, defense, and hitting.”
Hoffman further exclaimed that the team has “been playing well all season and can’t wait for the rest of the season!”
