Introducing Volt Club!

by Talia Herbst, SSLI '25

Recently, the Volt Club joined the rotation of Upper School clubs occurring during lunch. Volt, which stands for Visionaries of Learning and Technology, is a new science club offered for students.

Junior and co-president Mikey Benlevi created the club alongside junior and co-president Ariel Nitzan. Benlevi stated that they wanted to “bring physics to the younger generation of students and make science fun for everybody.” The name Volt was chosen because, as Benlevi explained, both he and Nitzan “wanted a cool name” for their club.

The club's advisor is Ms. Rasha, the middle school Digital Life Skills teacher. Nitzan shared that the club does “fun engineering challenges,” and members “compete [with each other] and learn different engineering principles.”

Benlevi shared that the goal for the club is to “have fun. That's goal number one, and the second goal is to bring basic physics to younger kids so they can begin to have a fundamental understanding of it.”

Tomorrow, the club is holding a fundraiser to raise money for materials so they can follow through with their goals for the club. Nitzan said the club is “planning on building a mouse trap and a race car so we can race with each other.”

Benlevi concluded, “Whoever has a basic interest in science should join our club and give it a chance because you will have fun.”

Make sure to bring money to support this growing club!
