Editor’s Note: PPN continues a tradition of winding down our year of reporting by celebrating each editor’s favorite post. We invite you to follow the link to the celebrated article.
My favorite article of this year was "Schechter Seniors and Kindergarteners Make Salad Together!" by one of our staff writers, Talia Herbst.

This article was unique because it not only focused on an event that occurred within SSLI high school but also in the elementary school. Since our school is K-12 in one building, we have the opportunity to work with both the middle and elementary school students to connect and strengthen our community.
This year, two of our Judaic Studies teachers, Ms. Fruithandler, and Morah Becky Friedman, received a grant for a program that they have been developing called Tovim HaShnayim. In English, this roughly translates to “two is better than one.” To me, this means using our resources to connect to other grades and especially to younger students. High schoolers can be such an important influence on elementary schoolers, so programming that brings us together is valuable.
In this article, Talia discussed an event where seniors worked with kindergarteners to make a salad. While some of the programming in the Tovim HaShnayim initiative is educational, others are more focused on fun and bonding between the groups. Students got to work together chopping vegetables, singing songs, and getting to know one another. Talia included three pictures in this article so readers can see the event, and she interviewed high school seniors and a teacher.
As a staff writer, Talia is a hard worker; over her time with PPN, she has reached her goal of writing 100 articles. Thank you Talia for all you do!
