Beginning this week until the end of next week, the Kesher Club is holding its annual toy drive.
Every year, around this holiday season, Kesher Club collects unwrapped toys and donates the toys to Toys for Tots. Since 1947, the Toys for Tots organization has been making kids' holidays more fun. This organization gives kids whose parents may not be able to afford toys an opportunity to feel like every other kid on Hanukkah or Christmas by having something special to open up. Donating to this cause is a simple way to make a kid smile big this upcoming holiday season.
Senior and club president Sasha Chernoff explained, “We have donated to [Toys for Tots] for many years in the past, and I really like their mission of bringing joy to economically disadvantaged children during the holiday season.”
Chernoff has already brought in toys to donate. She elaborated, “It felt rewarding to know that I am helping underprivileged children and providing them with something to look forward to during the holidays.”
Mark Kowalsky, one of Schechter’s guidance counselors, will be buying toys at Macy’s tomorrow to participate in the drive. Mark’s intentions are to act as a “role model” to those around him. He explained, “I received a monetary gift of thanks, and I am using this monetary gift to give to others.” He added, “At this very sad time during our loss of Omer z”l, I would like to do a mitzvah a day in honor of Omer z”l .”
Kowalsky concluded, “The act of giving to help others generates the greatest feeling ever, and this is what Schechter is all about.”
Please bring in toys for the Kesher Club toy drive. The box for donations is located in the lobby.
