On Monday, softball season began, and practices are now in full swing. The team began practicing by going to the batting cages to work on skills they had gained from last year, plus to teach the new players the fundamentals of batting. It is a larger team this year, so the team broke up into two groups; one group went on Monday and the other on Tuesday.
Today, the team officially had their first practice outside on the field. Senior and Co-Captain Addison Pravato said the first few practices "went well," adding, "We are all just getting back on our feet, and there are many new people learning how to play.” Her goal for the season is to “bring home a championship trophy.”
Freshman Lila Harris is new to the team and is looking "forward to getting better at softball and having fun while doing it." She decided to join the softball team because she thought that softball “will be a fun experience and a learning opportunity.”
For Pravato, this is the last sport that she will be playing for Schechter. She reflected on her time playing sports here at Schechter and shared, “I am very sad this is my last sport. I love Schechter sports teams and the families on the teams that we have built."
Coach Dylan said he hopes that, during this upcoming season, “everyone will get better and the team will make a strong playoff push.”
