The door to the Wing looks so nice for winter! (C. Smith)
Student Body President Elinor Schlissel said, “It’s important to redecorate the Wing because it keeps the Wing fresh and exciting. When the Wing has no decorations up or the same ones for too long, it can get boring and even annoying to keep seeing.”
“So, to redecorate the wing, we did a lot of awesome stuff,” explained Vice President Samson Mildron. “We put up some really nice snowflakes…and we put up some mittens, I believe, with snowflake interludes above the Wing, and it really looks so festive.”
Shir Levenson, a junior, shared that she thinks the new winter decor is “so cute.” Levenson added, “It's so wintery and it's perfect for…the season, and, especially since we've had all the snow recently, it's…really cute to see that it…matches.”
To address Palter’s argument, Mildron said, “First of all, the price of the decorations are close to negligible. Okay, so I mean, it doesn't really cost so much to get these couple of things. Second of all, we do sometimes have Student Government give out stuff, but that's a really good idea…. It's definitely a better idea to put funds towards actual activities, but also people like something to look at, people like the vibes of areas as well, and we want the Wing to be an inviting place at all the times, not just the activities.”
Levenson shared, “When I go to the Wing in September, I want it to feel different from when I go to the Wing in like February versus again in like May, so it's cool that the decorations give different energies for different seasons.”
“Spending Student Government money to redecorate the Wing is always worth it. It makes people happier and spend more time there, which was a goal of mine for this year: to get people back at the Wing. I think, in general, it also shows the student body that we care about the Wing and adds warmth to the space,” said Schlissel.
Schlissel shared, “My favorite part about redecorating the Wing is seeing everyone stop by to see what we did and then hearing those people go tell their friends and seeing the smile it brings to people.”
