Editor's Note: For today's article, senior and PPN Staff Writer Rebecca Bazini shared her personal reflection on this exciting milestone.
Today’s publication (yes, this very article) marks Paw Print Now’s 2,000th article. This major milestone has been in the making since the student-run website’s founder Max Kulchinsky (class of 2015) created the news source in order to “provide the Schechter community with daily news and updates from the high school hallways,” according to our own website.
The first article ever published on the website is titled “Sci-Tech Engineering Program” by Yair Koas, and was published on May 17, 2012 (link provided below). Since then, multitudes of students have made their marks on the website, with over 120 articles being published each year after the blog's 2012 inception. From reports on club fundraisers and sports to student-organized advocacy, PPN has reported on a far range of topics centered around our Schechter high school community.
PPN’s success inspired the creation of Paw Print Magazine, which reports on relevant topics surrounding Schechter, politics, media, and more through a similar system of student-run and student-written coverage. Also, it inspired the latest Paw Print Live, which reports on Schechter’s sports teams with live commentary.
This amazing milestone celebrates the continuous beating heart of student-run journalism here at Schechter. And there are still many milestones left to come; writers, staff writers, editors, and PPN advisor Mr. Thorgersen work tirelessly to publish an article every school day.
