Yesterday, Student Government held an event at an outdoor ice skating rink in Woodbury. Everyone in grades 8 through 12 was invited, and Student Government provided free hot chocolate during the event.
Senior and Student Body President Micah Bidner said that a lot of planning and preparation went into the event, especially because the rink is owned by the city and the school had to go through the process of obtaining a permit. Despite this, Bidner remarked that it was all worth it to see the “smiles on everyone’s faces.” He thought that everyone had a good time, and he was happy with the work that Student Government pulled off.

Other students at the event had fun as well. Sophomore MagghieMae Black Vargas commented that “it was incredibly exciting.” She reflected that she had fun experiences on the ice, including “teach[ing] my friends.”
The event also included some teachers. Ofra Hiltzik, Interim Head of School, and Sigal Cohen, Student Activities and Strategic Partnerships Coordinator, both attended the event. Cohen noted that “there was a nice mix of kids from different grades.” She thought this was “very nice” because “everyone really had someone who they were friends with.”
Ice skating was a wonderful way for students to have fun. As Cohen remarked, “There was lots of laughter.”
